Multi-sport

The Multi-Sport Development pillar of the Elpida Renewal Hub promotes physical health, emotional wellbeing, and holistic growth through structured access to sport and recreation.

We believe safe play spaces create strong futures. Through supervised, positive activities, young people discover their abilities, build friendships, and learn discipline in an environment that protects them from harmful influences.

Purpose

To establish a safe, inclusive, and well-equipped sports facility where children and teenagers can grow, belong, and thrive.

Why sport matters

Sport is far more than a game. It:

  • provides a healthy outlet for stress and trauma,
  • builds confidence, resilience, and teamwork,
  • develops leadership and self-control,
  • and keeps young people engaged during high-risk after-school hours.

When children have a place to go, they are less likely to be exposed to gangs, substance abuse, or unsafe streets.

Proposed facility

The vision includes a durable multi-sport court designed to accommodate

 soccer,

 netball,

basketball, v

volleyball, and

tennis and

Hockey

This shared space will allow rotational programmes, coaching, leagues, and free play under responsible supervision.

Community impact

A local facility reduces travel risks, supports school programmes, and becomes a gathering point for families. It builds pride, unity, and positive identity while offering teenagers a constructive alternative to street life.

Most importantly, it creates joy — a powerful ingredient in restoration.

💛 Cost per child

R500 per child per month provides access to safe facilities, equipment, supervision, and structured development activities.
